Insurance fraud is becoming more frequent. According to ValuePenguin, a financial consulting website, between 10 and 20 percent of claims are fraudulent in 2023. Policyholders lie to get better rates. And people up to $700 a year in additional fees as a result of fraud. So, how is law enforcement dealing with this uptick in insurance fraud cases?
In this interview with Utah Department of Insurance Director Armand Glick, he breaks down the root of why insurance fraud is so common and what can be done to stem the number of people involved in it. He also discusses what to watch out for to avoid becoming a victim, or participant, of insurance fraud.
